Fuji Apple by Spindrift

The Can

Spindrift has a tight system for the design of their cans: field of color, watercolor-style illustrations, clean type. That’s it. It’s delightfully simple. What you see is what you get.

A can of Spindrift brand Fuji Apple flavored sparkling water on a light wood table. The can reads "Real fruit tastes better".

This is a bold claim from a simple can. Does real fruit actually taste better than fake fruit? Citation?

Notes

This flavor has one job: To taste like the most wonderful apple you’ve ever bitten into. Mission accomplished! This sparkling water with real squeezed fruit has a natural sophisticated flavor that could sub in for a sparkling white wine if you’re avoiding alcohol or are a child. This isn’t your childhood apple juice.

Ingredients read that there is juice from fuji apples AND other unnamed apples. Perhaps a fuji apple flavor needs to be bolstered and balanced by the flavor of other apples because it is technically a cultivar of two types.

Either way, this is an easy sipper with a lovely drinking experience. Spindrifts generally have more flavor than an essenced or flavored seltzer, so it’s perfect for occasions where you’re looking for something a little more daring on your palate. The bubbles are friendly and approachable; they dance on the tongue without an overwhelming sensation.

Overall reaction

Culturally, apples may be associated with autumn and school teachers, but this delicious treat works any time of year. It’s pretty good!
