Episode 12: Blood Orange Tangerine by Spindrift

It’s got 92% Sparkling water and 8% real squeezed fruit inside this can. “Real Fruit Tastes Better” is a bold claim, but it’s just an opinion.

Blood Orange Tangerine by Spindrift

The Can

This can is simple, beautiful and minimal. Spindrift makes bold claims and doesn’t feel the need to “jazz it up” or “make it pop.” The aesthetics of the can belie the simplicity of their approach to bubbly bevvies: Simple can, simple ingredients. No muss, no fuss. I appreciate that they included a warning that the contents are under pressure.

Pictured here with my collection of copies of Carrie Fisher’s novel, “Delusions of Grandma”. I collect copies of this book despite having never read it and having no intentions of doing so in the future. If you see one in a used bookstore please pick it up for me. I have been collecting these for over 20 years.

Notes

This is a cacophony of citrus. A bit of rebellious sweetness from the blood orange and a tangy zip of tangerine. Truthfully, I am not sure I could tell the difference between blood orange and regular orange and tangerine. This product does not directly prevent scurvy, but it tastes like it might help ward off a vitamin C deficiency. The flavor alchemists at Spindrift created a symphony for the senses. The bubbles dance on the tongue in a polite and well-mannered delight. The initial bouquet is reminiscent of halftime at childhood soccer games and a tuscan sunset at the same time. The experience is complete with a refreshing finish that lingers delicately like a lover’s kiss.

Overall reaction

It’s juicy, it’s fleshy, it’s pretty good.
